      The reason for that is that the standards themselves state that 7.RL.8 is “not applicable to literature.” What that means is that that anchor standard (Delineate and evaluate the argument and specific claims in a text, including the validity of the reasoning as well as the relevance and sufficiency of the evidence) does not apply to reading a fictional text.
